Researching awen.

Awen is the company that runs the Tre project.
They've made lots of different films in the past, mostly based around cornwall,
Here are some films and projects they've done in the past:

Turn back time: The High street Penzance.
For this project the BBC bus came to penzance two make two short films with awen productions, it was premiered at the PZ gallery on the 21st december 2010.

Cornwall film festivals short films.
Awen productions did a film production with people with learning disabilities, commisioned by cornwall film festival
The project began in march with a film making masterclass at cornwall college, it was led my Sarah watson and Stephen Firshman from the oska bright commitee, an international film compay run by, and for people with learning difficulties.

Leaving care.
Leaving care was an honest documentary that explored four young people's storys about leaving the care system.
it was used as part of the national leaving care week conference cornwall october 2009.

Here's the link to the full list of films and projects they've worked in:
www.awen.org.uk/films

I Think my film would fit in with all of awen's other productions, because 'Home' to me, is cornwall, and all of awens other productions and films are based in cornwall, they focus on tradition and cornish heritage.

Screenshots.

Here as some screenshots of my video.

For this shot, i got it at daytime when the tide was covering the beach, so the boats are floating on the water, and later on when i filmed, i took a few shots of boats as the tide was out, so the boats were just on the sand with the waves brushing up against them.

I also took some shots of birds in the day time, and at night.

Finishing my product.

I'm currently editing my footage, i don't really want any effects or transitions on it, because that might look too overdone and wont really go with the film.
i've just put some short clips together, and so far it looks quite good.
I have also created a soundtrack for my video, i wanted to give it a 'folk' like of sound to it, as thats the music i grew up listening to, but i couldn't really find what i wanted, so i just went with a basic guitar tune and drum beat, it sounds a bit boring, but i don't want it to be distracting from the film, so thats okay.
i'll now finish editing my video and put the soundtrack on it.

Filming update.

I just filmed the last few shots for my video, at noon, i didn't want it to be too dark, otherwise it might not be very clear or good quality, but i guess the quality doesn't matter, i want it to look a bit out of focas at sometimes to add effect and get the result i want.
I'm pretty happy with the shots i got, i managed to film from the same location as before, so the transition from day to night shouldn't look odd or out of place really.
i'll edit the footage at college tomorrow.

I also want to put a soundtrack to it, as i don't like the background noise, people were swearing and talking, so it doesn't really give the effect i want.
i'll try and make some music on logic pro that reminds me of home,
it'll probably be some sort of guitar and drum beat, i want it quite simple.

Filming update.

I've finished filming the daytime shots for my video, and happy with what i've got,
the camera was a bit wobbily though, but this should look okay, as i do want my film to look like a home video, this should just add to that effect.
i'll start filming the nighttime shots tonight, i want to try and get the same sorts of shots i got for the daytime one, to show the contrast, so i'll make sure i film the same sorts of things, and i'll try and shoot them from the same location too.

Update

I've decided i'm just going to film my video in st.ives, as i don't have very much time,
here's a list of what i want to film:
  • birds
  • boats
  • harbour
  • the sea
  • houses
  • random short shots
Also, i've decided i want to shoot half of it in daytime, and half an noon/nighttime to show the contrast and difference (how St.ives changes at night)

I want to make my short film look like a home video, like somebody maybe shot it on their short holiday.
it's an experimental film, with no story line, just short clips.
